THE DEATH PENALTY IN CONNECTICUT

I am encouraged that there is a serious move afoot to abolish the death penalty in Connecticut. I honestly hope that this effort succeeds. I would be interested in readers' perspectives on this question. In my view, the death penalty sends a bad message, is vengeance based, and is ineffective. I find it hard to justify in terms of the teachings of Jesus, Himself a victim of.....the death penalty of His day....

What did Jesus teach with the woman caught in adultery? Did He say go ahead and kill her? I believe He said, those of you without sin cast the first stone. Application: No person is in a moral position to execute someone because all are guilty of sin and deserve death. I believe Jesus addressed this issue head-on with the incident of the adulterous woman. He spared her life and told her to stop sinning.
